Israel Police have seized approximately ₪500,000 in cash, together with a substantial amount of foreign currency, during a court-authorised search at a residential property in Nahariya.
According to Israel Police, detectives from the Nahariya Police Station’s investigations unit, assisted by a police canine handler, carried out the search as part of a proactive operation targeting suspected criminal activity in the city.
During the search, officers discovered the cash carefully concealed inside the roof of a storage shed located in the courtyard of the property.
Alongside the Israeli currency, police also recovered a significant quantity of foreign cash, including:

💶 Euros
💰 Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi dinars
🌍 Additional foreign currencies
The total value of the seized money is estimated at around half a million shekels.
Following the discovery, the homeowner and his father were taken into custody and questioned at Nahariya Police Station. Police have not released the identities of the suspects.
Investigation Continues
Authorities have not yet disclosed what offences the suspects are believed to be involved in or the suspected origin of the money.
The seized cash has been confiscated as evidence while investigators work to determine whether it is linked to criminal activity. No charges have been announced at this stage, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Police stressed that the operation forms part of their broader efforts to target the financial infrastructure of organised crime by locating and confiscating assets believed to be connected to illegal activity.
