Looking for an exciting family activity that combines history, archaeology, and hands-on fun? This August, the Israel Antiquities Authority, together with the Nahariya Municipality, is opening the gates to one of the city’s hidden historical treasures with a special series of family-friendly events at Nahariya’s Byzantine Archaeological Site.
Every Tuesday throughout August, visitors can take part in guided tours, creative workshops, and interactive activities designed to bring Nahariya’s ancient past to life. It’s a unique opportunity to explore remarkable archaeological discoveries and learn about the people who lived in the area more than 1,500 years ago.
The Byzantine site, located in the heart of Nahariya, contains beautifully preserved mosaics and fascinating remains from the Byzantine period, offering a glimpse into everyday life during one of the region’s most important historical eras. Expert guides from the Israel Antiquities Authority will lead visitors through the site, sharing the stories behind the discoveries while children can enjoy themed crafts and educational activities inspired by the archaeological finds.

Each Tuesday features a different historical theme:
